Pakistan’s three biggest stars, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, and captain Babar Azam, all underperformed during the tournament. They did, however, deliver when it meant the most in the encounter against New Zealand. The 105-run opening combination between Babar and Rizwan proved vital as Pakistan reduced New Zealand to 152/4, with Afridi leading the team to victory. This victory earned Pakistan’s place in the final for the first time since they won the competition in 2009. Despite a close game and challenging playing conditions, Pakistan emerged victorious.
